Matt Werkmeister
Coach
A Chaska native, my journey has always involved movement. Growing up I was constantly rough housing with my siblings or running around the woods with friends, climbing trees and playing games. Being a multi-sport athlete, I eventually found my stride on the lacrosse and football fields. My passion for sports took me to Utica University in Upstate New York, where I had the honor of serving as a team captain on the lacrosse team—a role I first embraced in high school at Chaska.
I graduated with a degree in Therapeutic Recreation, driven by a mission to help individuals of all abilities find joy and purpose through leisure. For eight years, I dedicated myself to working with adults with disabilities, witnessing first-hand how transformative purposeful activity can be.
In 2024, I transitioned back to the sidelines, coaching lacrosse for Chaska High School, Northstar Lacrosse Club, and eventually the University of Minnesota Gophers. Today, I am taking that commitment to wellness full-time by coaching and training individuals to move better and live stronger.
I believe movement efficiency is the foundation of performance. And movement is a key factor in quality of life. I am constantly learning new movements and techniques to help others achieve a healthy body and a healthy mind. I’m incredibly proud to bring my experience to the FitHaus team and to serve the amazing community of individuals.
