FitHAUS Featured Athlete...Sig Muller

This week we have decided to feature Sig Muller as our FitHAUS featured athlete. You’ve probably all seen Sig at the gym at some point, and if you haven’t stopped to chat with him, we suggest you do. He’s one of the friendliest guys we’ve met, and he’s always willing to strike up a convo with anyone. Sig is also one of those athletes who people love to stop and watch. He’s incredibly strong, but equally athletic. You won’t ever see Sig give less than 100% in the gym, because he’s always looking to improve and grow. He has competed in multiple CrossFit competitions, and always wows us with his determination to be his absolute best. Sig, it’s so impressive to see someone your age be so dedicated to health and fitness. We love that we get to see you during breaks and all summer. Let’s be honest, what would our beach WODS look like without Sig Muller leaping in to Long Lake with more energy than we can even think to muster up! Thank you for choosing FitHAUS Sig, you really are an incredible athlete and we know you are going to do great things!

1.Tell us a little bit about yourself (something that we may not know).

I am an Orono high 2017 grad, and I’m a current junior at University of Nebraska Lincoln.  I’m majoring in mechanized systems management, which is a combination of engineering and business. Some of my favorite hobbies are camping, hunting and fishing.

2.What made you decide to join FitHAUS? What were you doing prior to coming toFH?

I joined FitHAUS because after my high school sports were over I wanted to find something that channeled my competitive energy and was new and challenging.

3. What is your favorite thing about FitHAUS?

My favorite thing about FITHAUS is the community.  I have been to a few CrossFit boxes, and none of them compare to the tight knit community at FitHAUS. Whether that’s doing Murph, attending pizza parties, or going to the CrossFit games as part of the three stooges, (Me, Lalo and Lucas), it’s always fun community to be around.

4.What are some of the accomplishments related to physical fitness that you are most proud of. Do you have any fitness goals moving forward?

I’m most proud of the skills I’ve learned and the strength I’ve gained.  When I first startedFitHAUS I could barely front squat 185 pounds and now I’m snatching over 20 pounds more than that!

5.How had FitHAUS, or being physically active bettered your life outside of the gym?

Being in shape and working out helps me so much in my everyday life.  Just even being able to workout every day helps me channel my energy and focus and study much better in school.

6.What is your favorite class or movement/skill? What is your least favorite movement?

My favorite movement that I’ve learned is a ring muscle up. They’re super fun… once you really practice hard to get them done.  My least favorite movement is anything with a dumbbell front squat including dumbbell thrusters… there is just no way to get them in a good position.

7.What advice would you give to someone looking to join FITHAUS?

It may seem intimidating when you first walk in and start at any CrossFit box, but I promise no matter your fitness level the community at FitHAUS will welcome you and your life will absolutely change for the better!
