This week we couldn't think of anyone better to feature than Leah Sternhagen. No matter how hard the WOD, you can always expect her to flash you a great smile and give you a fist bump afterward. Leah is one of those athletes that manages to be strong yet graceful, and seems to be able to do just about anything you throw her way. This week is a great testament of why we are so proud of Leah. Week one of “social distancing” and Leah has hit every one of our live 6am WODS. Leah, we are so proud of your dedication to staying physically fit. You are an inspiration to all of us, as well as to your four beautiful kiddos. Thank you so much for choosing FitHAUS.
1.Tell us a little bit about yourself?
I live in Long Lake with my husband Chris, our four kids, three goldfish, two (pet) rats and our dog Sawyer. I have a BS in Construction Management Engineering and was the only female in my graduating class. I love to travel and my favorite place is any island where the only mode of transportation is a golf cart or bike. I enjoy snowboarding but I’m not that good at it, although I am much better on long, wide runs in Colorado than I am on the hills in Minnesota. I love hiking. I like to read but since having kids I mostly listen to audio books, which isn’t the same but is super convenient. I like being outside, live music and any combination of the two. I can never have enough plants. I use to play piano competitively and look forward to taking lessons again in the near future.
2. What made you decide to join FitHAUS? What were you doing prior to coming to FH?
I have been active all my life but nothing really consistent after high school. A couple months after I had my third baby, I joined bootcamp at Lifetime. I liked the early morning workouts and having a group of the same people to work out with. I was there for a couple years before joining FitHAUS. By this point, Chris was there as were a number of my friends and I was hearing ALL the things. I was a little slow to the party but they were all right, I loved it from Day One!
3. What is your favorite thing about FitHAUS?
I think everyone knows the answer here as there is a running theme It is certainly the people, the community. It is unlike any other gym I’ve ever been a part of and cannot imagine going anywhere else.
4. What are some of the accomplishments related to physical fitness that you are most proud of. Do you have any fitness goals moving forward?
I found out I was expecting our fourth just a couple months after joining FitHAUS. I was thrilled that I could modify EVERYTHING and that everyone was so supportive and helpful in doing so. As far as goals moving forward, I’d like to master kipping toes to bar and a handstand walk.
5. How has FitHAUS, or being physically active bettered your life outside of the gym?
Being active has always had a direct mental correlation for me which is probably one of the reasons I prefer to start out my day with the 5:30a crew!
6. What is your favorite class or movement/skill? What is your least favorite movement?
Lunges, hang cleans and burpees are my favorites. Overhead squats definitely get an eye roll.
7. What advice would you give to someone looking to join FITHAUS? Come on in! You’ll enjoy the workout, the coaches and the overall vibe.
