FitHAUS Featured Athlete...Jan Ellis

This week we are pleased to announce Jan Ellis as our FitHAUS featured Athlete. Jan has been a FitHAUS athlete since 2016 and has attended nearly 500 classes. We love the energy that Jan brings to each and every class…you can always count on cheer you on mid metcon. Jan continues to improve her strength and continues to master new skills. She always pushes herself just a bit further than before…just ask her about her hands after the Friday Night Lights WOD! Jan has completed 2 Murphs and participates in many of our FitHAUS events, and we are so grateful that we can call her our member! Jan we can’t wait to see how far you go in 2020, and are so proud of how far you’ve come thus far!

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I am a mom of a blended family, yours (26 year old son, 23 year old son), mine (22 year old son), ours (19 year old daughter) and a grandma of soon to be 4 cuties!

2. What made you decide to join FitHAUS? What were you doing prior to coming to FH?

I was running and doing KB workouts and started to see my desire wane after 3 years going it alone, FitHAUS was on my way to work and I loved the idea of a community to workout with.

3. What is your favorite thing about FitHAUS?

The obvious answer for me is the community, but pairing that with everyone pushing you to be the best version of you.  I love how my FitHAUS community pushes me to go further than I think I can.

4. What are some of the accomplishments related to physical fitness that you are most proud of. Do you have any fitness goals moving forward?

Completing Murph 2x, pull ups and push ups but really I am most proud that I am healthy and functional fit (which is a challenge for a lot of people my age).   Some things I am working on non-kipping pull ups (more than 1) and just better nutrition and continued over all health.

 5. How has FitHAUS, or being physically active bettered your life outside of the gym?

As I mentioned before, FitHAUS has made me fit that helps me in every aspect of my life.  Doing burpees sucks but it really does help me to be able to move to the ground and play with my grand kids or dogs more easily.

 6. What is your favorite class or movement/skill? What is your least favorite movement.

I have loved all the classes I have taken at FitHAUS, I love the variety of classes I can take on any given week. My least favorite movement has changed over the years so I guess today it would be devil's press or wall walks.

7. What advice would you give to someone looking to join FitHAUS?

My advice for someone looking would be that doing any activity is better than nothing!  You don't have to be the best in the room but be best of yourself!  Push yourself to the limit and be proud of even the small things you accomplish!
